10 former North East bands you need to discover / rediscover

Some absolute pearlers in this lot!


The last few years has seen bands across the North East call it a day. Which is fair enough, as it’s pretty hard to be a musician into adulthood, but some of them were really, really good. Here are 10 such bands who the music scene is all the poorer for being without.

In no particular order discover, or indeed rediscover, some of the finest music to come out of the region in the last few years.

Mammal Club

Founded by members of The Eye Jab and Yourcodenameis:Milo, Mammal Club created their own brand of danceable alt-pop before disbanding in 2012.

Acrobatic Society

Frenetic, unpredictable, and incorporating a violin for fuck’s sake. Acrobatic called it quits just after their Kick Me, I’m Down EP was released in March 2013.
