The Chapman Family encapsulate the malaise felt from force-fed talent shows, non-stop coverage of an unborn child you’ll never meet, talent-lite ‘next-big-things’ & governmental blunders/ignorance, providing an antidote in the greatest form.
We chose to play Cruel Britannia in the first podcast because it is sonically magnificent, has heart & shows perfectly the steps they have taken since releasing their debut album ‘Burn Your Town’. Scott genuinely believes that The Chapman Family are one of the greatest bands in the country & have been for a while.

Track 2 Fold – Blinding Light
Fold incorporate a beautiful, sparse & necessary soundscape which allows spoken word samples to cut through & deliver a message. This track features a sample from 80’s TV series ‘V’ which featured aliens coming down to earth to announce their presence & integrate with us. Other samples used by Fold include Charles Bukowski, Dr Martin Luther King Jr, Kurt Vonnegut, Jimmy Carter, Mike Ruppert, John Lennon, John F Kennedy & more.
This track was kindly sent over by Seth as an exclusive for us to play & is not currently available from Fold but you can pick up loads of other amazing tracks from their Soundcloud. They’ve also assembled a live band which will be playing shows in 2013.

Track 3 C H A M P I O N L O V E R – The Return
C H A M P I O N L O V E R are something of an online enigma with little information available, but who needs it when you can flick on their new EP Golds & just let the wave flood over you. They’re being thrown into the Kraut tag that is popular at the moment & although there are elements of this in their music there is a definite human touch to all of it. Like Madness on heavy sedatives.

Esper Scout are making their way with a very much DIY ethic, working with friends at MediaCAKE to produce videos & setting up their own special shows in venues away from the norm in Leeds.
